So anyone who knows me would say I’m a perfectionist but sometimes that OCD side of me totally pays off lol. I knew immediately what kind of tea pot I wanted to use for Mrs. Potts but when it came to Chip I couldn’t find one that was just right and I wouldn’t settle for a cup that wasn’t the perfect size & shape. But after about a month of searching I found the perfect cup to transform into Chip, even IF it didn’t have a chip in it. 😉
This set of characters were actually pretty easy to complete once I had the items with the shape & sizes I wanted.
I started with molding air dry clay around the Mrs. Potts, the sugar and creamer holders. The clay gave Mrs. Potts the appearance of her rufflie hat/lid and all of the tea set characters their rimmed feet.
After the clay was dry, I spray painted the characters a soft white color to ensured they all matched and I loved the softer color because bright white would look too new and after all they have been enchanted for seven years.
After they were completely white, I simply took some acrylic paint and perfectly colored sharpies and added the custom paint job to give this cute little tea set the perfect look. To Lyssa’s delight I even gave Chip his trademark “chip” that contributed to his name.
Woot! I just finished personalizing the favor bags for the upcoming princess birthday party. Ok, ok they are ALMOST finished…I still need to add the initials for the girls bags but I won’t do that until we have a confirmed RSVP list. But overall I am very happy with the results!
There are so many proud moments I have as a momma, but today when I walked out of the house into the garage to see my hubby teaching our little girl how to shoot her new Daisy BB Rifle (bday present from us) I was truly so proud of her…especially her accuracy for her first shooting.
We take her with us to the ranch when we shoot, but NOW she can join in on the fun and have a little target practice herself.
FYI her target was a picture she asked my dad to draw specifically for shooting (she wanted to be able to shoot zombies but knows how super afraid of zombies so she asked Pampo to draw a Frankenstein zombie so mommie wouldn’t be too scared…super cute right)
I am a firm believer that things turn out better when they are done properly from scratch. With that being said, out of exhaustion I chose to buy some sugar cookie mix and save myself some time…BIG mistake!!!
Not only did the cookies not hold their shape, now I just wasted precious time cutting & baking 3 batches of cookies! So I pull out my recipe book and make the cookies from scratch which I will just do in the future (thank you life for this great lesson).
Despite the false start, I love the way the ones from scratch turned out!
Had to compare both batches lol
Now THOSE are how sugar cookies are supposed to look 😀
As I was creating the dessert list for Alyssa’s Neverland Birthday party I wanted to make a treat that I haven’t made before but doable. In the end I chose to make chocolate covered oreos for the versatility in being able to cover them in any color and pair them with different toppers plus I knew that I wouldn’t be spending tons of time on tedious details (genius thought…I know 😉 )
Alas the party is right around the corner. When we started putting ideas together for Lyssa’s Neverland party I envisioned Captain Hook’s Ship on either the dessert table or a centerpiece…well it came time to draw the ship and once I was done sketching I knew right away it’s place belonged on the dessert table 🙂
After I finished drawing the ship, I used an Exacto blade to cut the ship out of the foam board
Then came a coat of metallic gold acrylic paint
After the paint dried while Alyssa & Josh were out running errands, I sprayed it with gold glitter
When they got back, I thought I would be cute and tell Lyssa that a Tinkerbell came by the house and sprinkled Pixie Dust on the ship…she looks at me with this skeptical look and without skipping a beat asked “then why is the ship not flying then?” I couldn’t help myself.. I let out a laugh and told her that was a very good question and thought that fewer and fewer things are getting past her. lol
The one time of year that I completely overdo the celebration is my daughter’s birthday party. I know that her party’s are bigger than needed however I am truly celebrating my little miracle and that she is healthy and happy.
This year we decided to celebrate with a Neverland theme and of course like always the invitations had to match and rhyme 🙂
I will totally admit that I am extremely excited for this party! More details to come…
