There are so many proud moments I have as a momma, but today when I walked out of the house into the garage to see my hubby teaching our little girl how to shoot her new Daisy BB Rifle (bday present from us) I was truly so proud of her…especially her accuracy for her first shooting.
We take her with us to the ranch when we shoot, but NOW she can join in on the fun and have a little target practice herself.
FYI her target was a picture she asked my dad to draw specifically for shooting (she wanted to be able to shoot zombies but knows how super afraid of zombies so she asked Pampo to draw a Frankenstein zombie so mommie wouldn’t be too scared…super cute right)
I wanted to take a moment and share some thoughts about Daddys, because it has always been my view that any guy can father a child but it takes a real man to be a Daddy.
Josh shared with me that as a kid the thing he wanted to be most when he grew up was a husband and daddy. Well…my loving husband is just that, partly thanks to his best guy role model growing up; his neighbor (Doug Cox) who took time to take Josh places to see new things and experience truly amazing sites (Josh grew up mainly in Montana so their hikes involved glaciers, grizzlies and big horn sheep in the national parks…definitely pretty amazing). Josh has taken this mentality with Alyssa. He always takes the time with her, he ensures we involve her as much as possible from taking her on our easier hikes now that she is still little, to playing a daddy daughter basketball game he wants her to look back and know how much he loves her. When she is having a melt down and I send her to her room he will go and talk it out with her to ensure she understands what she did wrong and how we can work together to fix the problem in the future.
It makes me so happy that Alyssa looks to Josh the same way I look at my Daddy. She thinks that he is Superman and argue with anyone who tries to say otherwise! 🙂 She is always thinking of him and will point out anything that is his favorite color lol (lime green). She runs and will hide behind him whenever there is a scary part on Scooby Doo because she knows he will protect her and the way she looks at him with admiration and love when he isn’t looking is breathtaking at times.
So honey, even when Alyssa is being difficult and continues to argue over every little thing and your patience is starting to wear thin remember that she only has one Superman Dad and loves you so very much!!!
I wanted to take a few minutes and say I have the best husband in the world.
He has to start the day off by leaning close and kissing me good morning, he fills my car with gas so I don’t have to, he makes sure to tell me that he loves me and says it with meaning (which makes it mean so much more), he cook dinner when I get out late, he lets me eat cookies and milk in bed whenever I want and he does little things to remind me exactly how much he cares.
For these plus about a million others I know exactly how lucky I am and I will cherish every moment we have together.
So Alyssa, Josh and I took our good friends Paul and Tracie on their first ever hike today to Seven Bridges. The day was beautiful in the upper 50s and the trails were pretty clear with only little patches of snow here and there.
Us playing around on the walk in route to the trail head.
Taking a break to do some amateur rock climbing.
Thank you Paul and Tracie for sharing today with us, we had a blast! We are thankful for another healthy happy day and being able to share it with good company! 🙂
Lyssa, Josh & I are taking our friends Paul & Tracie on a fun hike today and we are very excited because this is Paul & Tracie first hike ever so we picked a trail that Lyssa loves “Seven Bridges”. Hope they get hooked on all the beauty that Colo has to offer! 🙂
Usually I have tunnel vision the week before Alyssa’s birthday party because there is always so many last minute details that need my attention not to mention that I am baking her cake & other treats (so they will be fresh) and we always make the food ourselves. But this year when a friend came up to me about a month ago and asked if I would please make her nephew Angry Bird cupcakes and cake pops for the same day as A-Bear’s party I couldn’t tell her no, especially since I love helping people’s faces light up with special treats on their special day (truly that is what it is all about).
However, when my ever jokester hubby delivered them he told Barb that I was so sorry for the way they came out and hope she would forgive me (so so mean!) thankfully she loved both the cupcakes and cake pops despite hubby’s bad joke (he did come clean and tell her he just wanted to scare her for a moment).
